Loan funds to drive data park

July 6, 2012

Catawba County Economic Development Corp. is seeking up to $4 million in state loan funding to help establish a new multi-jurisdictional business park.

That park is planned for Conover and it would focus on landing the region’s next data industry, according to information from Catawba County Government. The park represents a partnership between Catawba County and the municipalities of Hickory, Conover, Maiden and Catawba. Final approval for the multi-jurisdictional venture is expected in August, according to county government officials.

A final public hearing on the loan will be during Catawba County Commission’s monthly meeting Monday at 7 p.m. Economic Development officials are seeking the loan through the N.C. Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)program for an industrial site development loan.
