The Observer News Enterprise is live at the Time Warner Cable Arena on Saturday for the Charlotte Bobcat's third regular season home game against the visiting Dallas Mavericks.

Bobcats make several clutch free throws down the stretch to pull out the 101-97 victory against the Mavericks.

Kemba Walker led Charlotte (2-3) with 26 points, eight steals, seven assists and six rebounds, while Michael Kidd-Gilchrist added 25 points and 12 rebounds. Dallas (4-3) was led by O.J. Mayo with 22 points.

Byron Mullens throws down a dunk on a pass from Ramon Sessions to give Charlotte a 95-93 lead with 2:21 left in first overtime.

Dallas and Charlotte trade scores. O.J. Mayo hits two free throws, while Brendan Haywood makes a lay up.

4th quarter

Vince Carter's late three falls short. We are heading to overtime.

Ramon Sessions lay up with 2.8 seconds ties game at 91-91.

Back-to-back lay ups from Ramon Sessions give Charlotte its first lead since the first half, 85-84, with 2:12 left in the game.

A jumper by Kemba Walker cuts the Charlotte deficit to 84-81 with 3:42 left in the contest.

Bobcats have worked to cut lead to five, but continue to come up short of scoring chances and get even closer.

3rd quarter

Dallas leads 73-68 after third

DeSagana Diop makes two great defensive plays, including blocking Chris Kaman and forcing Kaman to lose the ball, which led to a steal. The plays cut the lead to 68-65 — the lowest deficit for Charlotte since the first half

At the 2:55 mark, Charlotte has trimmed lead to 68-61.

Bobcats and Mavericks trading baskets early to start the second half. With 5:37 left, the score is Mavericks 64, Bobcats 54

2nd quarter

At halftime, the Mavericks lead 55-44 over the Bobcats. Dallas is shooting 70 percent (7-of-10) from three-point territory, including three from Vince Carter and two each from O.J. Mayo and Troy Murphy. Kemba Walker leads Charlotte with 17 points. Mayo has a team-high 12 points for Dallas.

With 5:27 left in quarter, Bobcats trail the Mavericks by six points, 40-34. Charlotte's starters have returned to the court, including Walker, Kidd-Gilchrist, Mullens, Haywood and Taylor.

Mavericks continue to surge in the second quarter, while Bobcats are struggling. With nine minutes left in first half, Mavs lead 31-26.

1st quarter

Mavericks go on run and cut lead to 24-21 after the first quarter behind six points off of the bench from Troy Murphy.

With 3:17 left in first quarter, Bobcats lead 22-15. Kemba Walker has seven points and five assists to lead Charlotte, while Byron Mullens has tallied three points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Bobcats off to great start, but piling up the fouls quick. Michael Kidd-Gilcrist has two fouls, while Byron Mullens, Kemba Walker and Jeffrey Taylor each have one.

Bobcats pull out to 14-4 lead and force Mavericks to take their second timeout at the 8:11 mark in the first quarter. Kemba Walker with five points and four assists so far.
