Lenoir man convicted in Hickory sex assault

Joseph Lashaunn Smith, 35, of Lenoir, was convicted of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child after a three day trial in Catawba County Criminal Superior Court this week.

The jury deliberated for approximately one hour prior to returning the verdict of guilty. The Honorable Timothy S. Kincaid sentenced the defendant to no less than 16 months and no more than 29 months suspended and the defendant will be placed on probation for a period of 36 months to be supervised by the North Carolina Division of Community Corrections.
