Legion honors local officials

The American Legion Post 16 held it’s annual Officer/Firefighter of the year awards at the legion hall Monday, Feb. 25 at  noon.
  
The recipients of these awards were not chosen by the American Legion, but their respective units or departments. The following were honored:Bobby Houston, Conover Police Officer of The Year; Mark R. Stafford, Conover Firefighter of The Year; Sgt. David T Harris, Newton Police Officer of the Year; Jo D. Sandobal, Newton Firefighter of the Year; Brian Perkins, NC State Trooper of the Year, Catawba County; Sgt. David Lee Clark, Catawba Police Officer of the Year; Donald Robinson, Catawba Firefighter of the Year; Claremont Police Officer of the Year Cpl. David Clark; Claremont Firefighter of the Year Brandon Ham; Catawba County Deputy Sheriff of the Year Lt. Jason Beebe and Oxford Firefighter of the Year Donnie Deal.
