Last minute candidates enter local municipal races

Seven candidates called it close by waiting to the last morning to file for the 2013 municipal elections with the Catawba County Board of Elections on Friday.

The deadline was noon, and the last candidate filed just after 11:30 a.m.

The filing period started at noon on Friday July 5.

The city of Hickory will have a primary election for two of the Ward seats and for the mayor’s race. The primary will be on Oct. 8.
