Lakewood wins pivotal Game 3

September 11, 2010

The Lakewood BlueClaws scored three runs in the first inning Saturday, and they never looked back. The BlueClaws defeated the Hickory Crawdads 6-0 in the third game of the Divisional Round of the South Atlantic League playoffs.

The BlueClaws won the series 2-1.

Lakewood catcher Sebastian Valle dealt the first blow with a two run homer in the bottom of the first inning and was followed later by an RBI single from third baseman Jeremy Barnes to make it 3-0.

Lakewood added a run in the fourth, before two unearned runs in the 8th
came in to account for the 6-0 final.

BlueClaws pitcher Jonathan Pettibone (1-0) did not allow a hit to the Crawdads through 5-2/3 innings until left fielder Travis Adair singled to break it up. Pettibone logged seven scoreless innings to guide the BlueClaws to the win, ending the Crawdads playoff run.
