Through its successes and struggles this season, the Fred T. Foard softball team persevered to reach the 3A state softball championship.

The Lady Tigers (25-4) meet the C.B. Aycock Falcons (29-2) in the first game of a best-of-three series at Raleigh's Walnut Creek Softball Complex on Friday.

For a complete preview of the 3A softball title series, pick up the Friday edition of Catawba County's community newspaper, The Observer News Enterprise, at newsstands throughout the county.
