Lady Tigers pound Panthers, prepare for N-C

September 16, 2011

Even at its worst, Foard was the best.

The Lady Tigers volleyball team (8-3, 3-1) earned another Northwestern Conference volleyball victory in decisive fashion at home Thursday against Hibriten, 25-13, 25-12, 25-7.

In spite of the victory, Foard coach Alison Yount was not pleased with her team’s efforts.

“The score doesn’t look like we played bad, but in my opinion, we played pretty poorly,” Yount said. “We worked hard in the third game and played a lot better than we did in the first two games. Our heads just weren’t in the game”

Leading the charge for the Lady Tigers was Brooke Robinson, who had eight kills and three aces.

“I was proud of Brooke for her hits,” Yount said. “She’s come a long way. She’s learned to play the net really well. She’s even doing a good job serving and trying to play back row some.”

Up next for Foard is an important match against Newton-Conover at Statesville High School on Saturday.

The game pits Yount against her former mentor and coach Linda Richards.

“That is going to be a big match,” Yount said. “I know those girls are good. I’ve seen them play. I know they are good. It is going to be tough. Hopefully, going in with a win, we can keep the ball rolling and put up a good effort against them on Saturday.”
