Lady Bucs rallly past Clinton Junior College, 71-58

Rallying from down two points at halftime, the Catawba Valley Community College women's basketball team remained undefeated with a 71-58 victory against Clinton Junior College on Friday at the Tarlton Complex.

Nika Jones led CVCC with 22 points, while Gabrielle McClain added 15 points.

The Lady Bucs (3-0) trailed 34-32 at the break to the Lady Bears (1-2).

A pair of former Newton-Conover standouts also scored in double digits, including Samiya Pitts with 11 points and Kadesha Gibbs with 10 points and five rebounds.

CVCC forced 35 turnovers from the Lady Bears, including a team-high seven steals from Pitts.

The Lady Bucs return home at the Tarlton Complex on Tuesday against Tri-County Community College at 5 p.m. The CVCC men's basketball team is scheduled to play after that contest at 7 p.m. against Spartanburg Methodist.

Both games also mark the Second Annual Veterans Celebration, where veterans are invited to be honored in between these games. All veterans and their families will have free admission.
