Lady Bucs beat Lenoir, advance in Region X tourney

The No. 1 seed Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team advanced to the next round of the Region X Tournament on Friday with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-12 and 25-7) victory over No. 8 Lenoir Community College.

Jennifer Beatty led CVCC with 13 kills, eight digs, two aces and one block. Leah Wells added eight kills, 10 digs, two blocks and an ace.

CVCC, who is ranked No. 19 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association poll, was led in assists with 29 by Lacy Goodson.

With the win, the Lady Bucs (32-0, 19-0) advance to the Region X semifinals where they will face Pitt Community College at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The winner of that match will compete in the championship match at 2:30 p.m.

The Region X/District P champion will travel to Toledo, Ohio on Nov. 15-17 to compete in the NJCAA Div. II National Tournament.
