Lenoir-Rhyne’s Stephan Arcieri has been named a “Player To Watch” in the Southeast region by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

The designation is part of the 2012 NCAA Div. II ABCA/Rawlings Preseason All-American Team.

Arcieri, a senior outfielder from Roswell, Ga., finished third on the team last season in hitting (.350) while starting 45 of the squad’s 47 games.

Arcieri also led the team in hits (62) to go along with 12 stolen bases, 35 runs scored, three triples, 76 total bases and 26 runs batted in.

Meanwhile, Lenoir-Rhyne freshman outfielder Ivan Vieitez was selected as a Newcomer To Watch.

Vieitez is a native of Miami, Fla., and a graduate of Braddock High School.

Lenoir-Rhyne opens the season on Wednesday, Feb. 1, when it travels to Misenheimer, to face Pfeiffer. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.

Lenoir-Rhyne’s first home game takes place Wednesday, Feb. 8, against Belmont Abbey at Bears Field beginning at 4 p.m. The Bears are coached by fifth-year mentor Paul Knight.
