Intimidators score 10 runs, defeat Crawdads

The Kannapolis Intimidators scored 10 runs on 10 hits to defeat the Hickory Crawdads 10-2 in minor league baseball action on Friday.

Jason Coats, Michael Johnson and Patrick Palmeiro each drove in two runs to lead the Intimidators (6-3).

Jordan Akins paced Hickory (3-6) with one RBI and one run scored on a 1-for-4 day at the plate.

Kannapolis' Jake Cose improved to 2-0 on the mound this season, allowing seven hits, two runs (one earned), two walks and striking out seven. Zach Isler earned the three-inning save.

Hickory starter Sam Stafford suffered the loss. He only threw 0.2 innings, walking all four batters he saw.

The Crawdads and Intimidators play games three and four of the series on Saturday and Sunday in Kannapolis.

Hickory starts a three-game road series with Asheville on Monday.
