Former Bandys High pitcher Hunter Harvey will make his anticipated pro debut next week with the Gulf Coast Orioles.

Harvey, who was drafted with the 22nd pitch in the 2013 MLB Draft, will pitch against the Gulf Coast League Rays on July 19 in Sarasota, Fla. at 12 p.m.

The GCL Orioles play a total of 54 games in their season and are 17 games through their current slate as of Thursday with a 9-8 record.

There are 16 teams in the Gulf Coast League (rookie level), including affiliates with the Marlins, Cardinals, Mets, Nationals, Astros, Braves, Tigers, Blue Jays, Phillies, Pirates and two teams for the Yankees.

Both the Orioles and Rays play in the Gulf Coast League’s South Division along with the GCL Red Sox and GCL Twins.

Harvey is currently working with pitching coach Wilson Alvarez as a member of a 18-man pitching staff — 16 of which are active.

At Bandys High School, Harvey had a 25-5 record in four years on the mound with a 2.45 ERA.

He pitched in 198.2 innings, striking out 327 batters and walking 65. Harvey also allowed 80 runs, 54 of which were earned.
