For the second-straight season, the Catawba County Hornets faced the Stanly County Panthers in their regular season opener in the Central Carolinas Football League.

The result ended up being the same as last year.

After holding a narrow 14-12 halftime lead, the Hornets defense held its own and allowed no Panther points in the second half, while the Catawba County offense scored a pair of touchdowns to come away with the 28-12 win at Westside/Jaycee Park on Saturday.
