The Catawba County Hornets kept their perfect record intact on Saturday with a 28-6 win against the Triangle Nighthawks in Raleigh.

Catawba County (3-0) took an early lead when quarterback Brandon Streater connected with wide receiver Centrail Williamson on a 23-yard pass in the first quarter.

Desmond Burch added a two-point conversion run to make it 8-0.

Streater recorded his second touchdown pass toward the end of the quarter, hitting running back Jaurice Haynes in stride for a 90-yard pass-and-catch.

The Nighthawks (1-3) would score just before halftime on a 45-yard pass from quarterback Mike Spear to wide receiver Ray Moss.

Catawba County led at the break, 14-6.

The Hornets’ defense got in on the scoring in the third quarter.

Linebacker Tommy Henry recovered a fumble and returned it 45 yards for his team’s third score.

Running back Brandon Beam converted the two-point conversion to make it a 22-6 lead for Catawba County.

The Hornets added the game’s final score on its last play.

Back up quarterback Jason Kennedy found Williamson for another receiving touchdown — this time from 50 yards out — as the buzzer sounded.

The Hornets return Westside/Jaycee Park on Saturday for a league game against the Carolina Heat (1-2) at 8 p.m.
