The Catawba County Hornets persevered through the rain to pick up their fourth victory of the season on Saturday at Westside/Jaycee Park.

The Hornets defense forced seven turnovers in a 14-0 win against the Carolina Heat.

Catawba County defenders Brent Wilkerson, Tommy Henry and Kyle Loflin each forced two turnovers, while Jarrod Holmes tallied the other.

Hornets quarterback Brandon Streater scored both of his team’s touchdowns in the game, including one each in the first and fourth quarters.

Streater’s first touchdown scamper completed a 10-play, 67-yard drive for the Hornets.

The Heat held the Hornets offense at bay in the second and third quarter, intercepting Streater twice in each stanza.

Most of Catawba County’s offense came on the ground with the Hornets rushing 24 times for 235 yards.

The biggest of those rushers was Desmond Burch, who carried the football 11 times for 101 yards.

Streater added game’s last score in its final quarter on an 18-yard run, capping a 9-play, 68-yard drive.

Streater finished the game with four rushes for 44 yards and two scores. He also completed 8-of-20 passes through the air for 86 yards and four interceptions.

Defensively, Loflin tallied 10 tackles (eight assists), one sack, one interception and a fumble recovery.
The Hornets are once again home on Saturday when they take on the Upstate Vikings at 8 p.m. at Westside/Jaycee Park.

Catawba County defeated Upstate earlier this season, 34-6, in Spartanburg, S.C.
