Propst Crossroads fire department responded to a fully involved mobile home fire at 3799 Scronce Road in Vale at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Units en-route to the scene observed heavy black smoke from the vicinity and called for mutual aid assistance from Union VFD out of Lincoln County.

“We knew it was a working fire and would be a total loss,” said Propst Crossroads Fire Department Chief Mike Weaver.

The department requested additional aid from Mountain View and Maiden fire departments as well as Catawba County EMS and Hickory Rescue as they did not know if the house was occupied and additional sources were necessary to search as well as fight the fire.
