Historic churches open their doors to community

NEWTON — It’s the time of year when twinkling lights and shining ornaments adorn Christmas trees in churches all over, but one tree has inspired something even bigger than warmth and gifts.

“We work hard putting together our tree,” said Sherrill Ramsier, of First Presbyterian of Newton. “We thought it would be nice if we could get the community to enjoy our tree, and not just us.”
