High school students run for United Way

Thirty-five cross-country teams and 1,050 athletes from Western North Carolina competed at Southside Park in Newton on Wednesday in the 20th Annual United Way Unifour Cross Country Invitational.

Runners filled Newton's Southside Park Wednesday, Oct. 10, for the 20th Annual United Way Unifour Cross Country Invitational. Thirty-five schools and more than 1,050 runners participated in the annual event.

Through the years, the event has been about bringing high school athletes together to compete but with a focus on giving back to the community and being grateful for what they have.
