Hickory Police: Woman shoots, kills son

LONG VIEW— Police in Long View are investigating the shooting of a 21-year-old man by his mother.

The Hickory Police Department reports that no one has been charged in the shooting that killed Justin Barger on Friday.

Police Lt. Rick Coffey said Justin Barger was drinking and assaulted his parents.

Coffey said 53-year-old Karen Barger shot her son once with a handgun. He died at the home.

Coffey said police are investigating, and will turn the results of their probe over to District 25 Attorney James C. Gaither Jr. to determine if charges should be filed.
