One day after a grueling slugfest with Cherryville that ended in a heartbreaking loss, Hickory Post 48 closed out its regular season strong.

Led by solid pitching from Colton Allison, Post 48 picked up its 15th win of the season.

With the victory, Hickory ends its season at 11-3 in the Area IV West Division — tied three ways for first with Cherryville and Caldwell County.

Allison improves to 4-0 on the mound this season.

Offensively, Hickory was led by Phillip Carroll, who went 3-for-3 from the plate, while Tyler Pait was 2-for-5.

The Area IV playoffs start Tuesday. A pairing meeting will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the American Legion Fairgrounds.
