On the heels of potentially setting the franchise’s home run record, Hickory was denied its historic moment on Tuesday.

Charleston scored one run in the third, fourth and sixth innings and two in the seventh to come away with a 5-1 victory against the Crawdads at L.P. Frans Stadium.

It was the sixth-straight loss for the ‘Dads, who fall to 55-46 overall and 16-15 in the second half of the season.

Hickory only had two hits through six innings, but managed to break through in the seventh.

After Nick Williams led the inning off with a triple, Ryan Rua got Hickory on the scoreboard with a single down the third base line.

Rua’s RBI was his 77th of the season, which leads the South Atlantic League.

However, Rua’s hit was the only offense Hickory could muster, as it was four-hit by the Charleston pitching duo of Cesar Vargas and John Brebbia.

The Crawdads are off today before starting an eight-game road trip on Thursday.

Hickory plays four games against Kannapolis and four games against Charleston before returning home to L.P. Frans next Thursday against Asheville.
