Hickory Crawdads opening day roster is revealed

The Hickory Crawdads released their opening day roster on Thursday, just a week before the team is scheduled to plays its regular season opener against Greensboro.

Three 'Dads are returning for another season with the team, including catcher Jorge Alfaro, outfielder Jordan Akins and catcher Joe Maloney.

The team also features several high draft choices from 2012, including outfielder Lewis Brinson (first rounder), third baseman Joey Gallo (first rounder), outfielder Nick Williams (second rounder) and outfielder Preston Beck (fifth rounder).

Five prospects on this year's team are also ranked by MLB.com in the top 15 of their respective position, including Alfaro (No. 5 catcher), Gallo (No. 9 third baseman), Nomar Mazara (No. 12 outfielder), Brinson (No. 15 outfielder) and C.J. Williams (No. 20 pitcher).

Hickory opens its season with a four-game series against Greensboro, which starts Thursday and continues through Sunday.
