Hickory Post 48 has cancelled two its final seven games on the schedule with Caldwell County Post 29.

Hickory, 12-2 overall, 9-1 in the Area IV Western Division, was scheduled to take on Caldwell County twice — June 23 at Henkel-Alley Field in Hickory and June 27 at M.S. Deal Stadium in Caldwell County.

Both of those games, which were slated to be non-Area IV exhibition games, have been cancelled.

"Caldwell has 11 games in 11 days," said Post 48 coach Fore Rembert. "We both wanted to not over use our pitching to get ready for the playoffs."

Post 48 is back in action Friday when it hosts Moundsville (W.Va.) Post 3 for the second time in the past four days. Hickory won against Moundsville on Tuesday, 12-2, in six innings via the mercy rule.
