HFD welcomes changes

October 2, 2012

Hickory Fire Department said goodbye to two fire fighters Tuesday night and welcomed its new fire chief.

Fred Hollar was welcomed as chief during a reception held Tuesday at the Julian G. Whitener Municipal Building second floor atrium, prior to being sworn in at the meeting.

“I feel fortunate that we have a person of Chief Hollar’s character and experience,” Hickory City Manager Mick Berry said. “He is well known and well respected through out the community. His vision and relationships with our partners in emergency services make him uniquely qualified to lead our excellent professional fire fighters.”
