Handguns in Parks

The folks with concealed carry permits have passed all sorts of background checks, have clean record, and know the laws governing the use of weapons than most other people.

There is virtually no evidence to show that these folk (those who legally carry) are NEARLY AS DANGEROUS to others as folks who don't carry weapons. In those areas where concealed carry is common, crime statistics drop, and it's very, very rare for a person who has been through the training and background checks to even get in any sort of weapons-related trouble.

(Fact is, banning weapons from the parks won't keep them out -- it'll just keep them out of the hands of people who aren't likely to cause problems, while trouble-makers will continue to take weapons there.)

Should concealed carry of weapons be disallowed? Only if the person carrying them isn't doing it legally. I wouldn't mind police checks to verify the legality of carry, either.
