Grasshoppers top Crawdads in game two, 7-3

Despite a two-RBI performance from center fielder Jordan Akins, the Hickory Crawdads dropped their second-straight road contest to the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Thursday, 7-3.

First baseman Aaron Seene led the 'Hoppers (18-8), going 1-for-3 from the plate with a home run in the bottom of the eighth inning that plated two runs.

Ryan Goetz, Austin Barnes, Brent Keys, Matt Smith and Ryan McIntyre also drove in one run each for Greensboro.

Akins paced the 'Dads (16-10), driving in his two runs on a 2-for-4 performance at the plate.

Designated hitter Hanser Alberto also drove in a run for Hickory.

Austin Brice picked up the victory for Greensboro on the mound, allowing no runs on one hit, four walks and struck out six Hickory batters.

Hickory's Luke Jackson fell to 2-2 on the season, allowing four runs on five hits, walking two and striking out none.

The 'Dads and 'Hoppers play the third and final game of their series in Greensboro today at 7 p.m.
