Behind the play of junior catcher Meggie Gentle, the Bandys softball team continued to keep pace near the top of the Catawba Valley 2A standings with an 8-1 home victory against Newton-Conover on Friday.

“We pulled together, had a lot of enthusiasm and positive attitudes,” said Bandys coach Randi Keith of her team’s performance on Friday. “It was a team effort. We are getting people on base, and more importantly, we are moving them around the bases.”

Gentle drove in three runs on a single and triple for the Lady Trojans (6-6, 6-3) in Friday’s victory.
