John William Thomas, 73, of Hickory, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at his residence.  A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel.

Ellen S. Pennigar, 85, of Sherrills Ford, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011.  The Pennigar family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton.
