FOOTBALL ROUND UP: Eckard, Bears claw Indians

Running back Jordan Eckard scored three touchdowns, helping Bunker Hill defeat St. Stephens on the road Friday night in Hickory, 39-26.

The Bears (2-0) led 24-6 at halftime behind touchdown runs by Eckard and one each from quarterback Colton Chapman and wideout J’len Wilson.

Janarion Knox led St. Stephens (0-2) with three touchdowns in Friday's contest, including two on the ground and one through the air.

Newton-Conover 50, Lexington 28

The Red Devils bounced back from a loss to Chase last week with a 22-point road victory.

Tyrell Fleming rushed for two touchdowns and caught two more from quarterback Thomas Corpening, who also ran for a touchdown of his own.
