Felony license charges mount

June 12, 2012

State officials say at least 28 Greater Hickory Metro citizens received wrongfully issued North Carolina driver's licenses this year due to the illegal actions of a Newton examiner.

The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) License and Theft Bureau arrested Cathy Rudisill, 62, of Vale, in May on 13 felony counts of wrongful issuance of a driver's license.

As part of an ongoing investigation, authorities added 15 more felony charges of wrongful issuance this week, according to Marge Howell, a DMV spokeswoman.

"That brings it up to 28 people who may be affected by her actions," Howell said, adding there may be more.
