Fallen heroes remembered

May 28, 2012

Veterans and citizens alike gathered at Claremont City Park on Monday to remember those who died serving this nation.

Claremont Mayor Dave Morrow said the service is not only to honor those veterans who have fallen, but anyone who served the United States.

“Today is the day to remember our veterans — those living and those who have been lost,” Morrow said. “It gives me great honor to be proud of those serving today and those who have given their life. As we celebrate, this Memorial Day, let us remember those who helped this country stay free and have better lives.”

A panel of five veterans addressed Claremont residents Monday. They not only told about where and when they served, but also about why it’s important to honor those lost.
