An already loaded backfield for Bunker Hill High School's football team gets an added bonus this fall.

St. Stephens running back Jon Sweet, who rushed for 1,454 yards and 16 touchdowns last season for the Indians, has transferred and will play for the Bears this fall.

Sweet joins senior Justin Lynch at Bunker Hill. Lynch rushed for over 1,000 yards for the second-straight season in 2011.

Two key pieces of the St. Stephens offense from a year ago, including Sweet, will have to be replaced this fall. Quarterback Matt Williams transferred in March to Hickory High School.

With Williams and Sweet, the Indians finished the regular season 5-7 overall and 3-3 in the Northwestern 3A/4A. St. Stephens won its final regular-season game against Watauga, 25-22, to qualify for the 3A playoffs.

First-year coach Chris Bunting will guide St. Stephens this fall. Bunting replaced Fred Whalen, who stepped down after two seasons as Indians head coach.
