Catawbans begin the 2014 election cycle with early voting in the party primaries that begins today and extends for almost a week and a half.  Voters here will have the opportunity to participate in a trend in the balloting process:

For only the second time—ever—in Catawba County, voting will take place on a Sunday. Citizens  will  be part of a broadening change when the early voting site at the Newton Main Library of the county public library system will be open Sunday of this week from 1 to 5 p.m. for any county registered voter.

To read more of this story, pick up the Thursday edition of Catawba County's community newspaper, The Observer News Enterprise, at newsstands throughout the county.
