Drive slide by Crawdads on Johns' hits, 3-0

August 7, 2012

Only totaling six total hits, the Greenville Drive managed to muster enough offense to escape with a 3-0 home victory over the Hickory Crawdads on Monday.

Two of those six hits came off of the bat of leadoff hitter and second baseman Bryan Johns, who plated two runs in the contest.

Drive third baseman David Renfroe added a second-inning solo home run to finish the scoring in the game, helping Greenville improve to 22-22 in the second half and 56-58 overall.

First baseman Trever Adams led Hickory (24-21, 60-54) with three hits, including his 18th double of the season.

Crawdads starting pitcher Jerad Eickhoff loses his second-straight decision, falling to 11-6 on the year. He gave up three hits, one earned run (Renfroe's homer), one walk and struck out five Drive batters.

The 'Dads have a day off Tuesday before returning to the home diamond on Wednesday for the first game of a four-game set against the Asheville Tourists. Wednesday's game time is set for 7 p.m.
