A single by Drew Robinson in the bottom of the ninth gave the Hickory Crawdads a walkoff win against the Lexington Legends on Friday before a packed house of 4,853 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium.
The Legends (25-22) led 4-3 before the bottom of the seventh inning when the 'Dads struck for four runs, including a two-RBI single by Hanser Alberto.
Lexington came back to tie the contest at 7-7 in the top of the eighth. Mike Kvasnicka had the biggest hit of the inning — a two-run homer to left field — that scored Chris Epps.
However, Hickory (22-24) loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth on a Chris Grayson double, a Zach Cone walk and a sac bunt by Alberto that was mishandled by Legends pitcher Nathan Pettus.
Robinson's single to left field off of Pettus on the next at-bat scored the game winner, allowing the 'Dads to even their series with the Legends at one apiece.
Hickory and Lexington finish out a four-game series this weekend. The two teams play Saturday at 6 p.m. followed by a 5 p.m. Sunday tilt.View more articles in:
