Deputies search for alleged kidnapper

June 8, 2011

Catawba County and Lincoln County sheriff's deputies are attempting to locate a male involved in a morning kidnapping, which started in Claremont.

Jamey Lineberger, 33, took a woman, who he was in a former relationship with, from her home near Bethany Church Road and forced her into a van. Lineberger then led Catawba County sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase for about 15 miles into Lincoln County near Goodson Road.

Sheriff Coy Reid said Lineberger drove his van through a field and hit a fence, wrecking his van. Lineberger then escaped the vehicle on foot. Reid said K-9 units tracked Lineberger to N.C. 150 east, where they lost his scent.

"He may have gotten a ride," Reid said.

Reid said the female victim was located and has no injuries. In addition to the two sheriff's departments, N.C. Highway Patrol also used its helicopter during the search in Lincoln County.

Reid said sheriff's deputies know where Lineberger lives, and they plan to locate him quickly. Lineberger is described as a 6-foot-1-inch, slim build and black male.

...this tells me that:

a. There are NOT enough deputies working the roads, or else they would have caught him between Bethany Ch. Road and 150!

b. The dogs are useless wastes of taxpayer money.

c. The deputies need to do some PT!
