A Connelly Springs man faces a life sentence after being convicted Tuesdy of first degree murder in Catawba County Criminal Superior Court,
according to the District Attorney’s
Office.

Matthew Gene Hopkins, 24, was found guilty for his part in a 2011 homicide in Hickory in which several others, including Camyron Frederick Johnson, Robert Shannon McElwee, Emily Kathryn Starnes
and Consandra Nicole Tryee, have all been convicted and are serving
active sentences.
