'Dads pick up series win over 'Hoppers, 7-6

Powered by a four-run fifth inning, the Hickory Crawdads picked up a series-clinching road victory over the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Monday, 7-6.

The Crawdads improve to 9-3 in the second half and 45-36 overall. Greensboro falls to 5-7 in the second half and 51-31 overall.

Alejandro Selen led Hickory with three RBIs on a 2-for-4 hitting day, while Trever Adams added two RBIs, all of which came on a fourth-inning single.

Crawdads pitcher Jose Mavare improved to 3-3 on the mound, allowing three hits, two runs (both earned), one walk and struck out two 'Hoppers batters.

Hickory plays its fifth and final game at Greensboro on Tuesday before returning to L.P. Frans Stadium for a Fourth of July fireworks celebration against the Delmarva Shorebirds.
