'Dads drop series finale to 'Hoppers, 9-3

The Greensboro Grasshoppers picked up a 9-3 victory in the series finale against the Hickory Crawdads on Friday before 1,540 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium.

'Hoppers catcher Austin Barnes led his team by going 3-for-3 from the plate with a double and three RBIs.

Six other Greensboro players also drove in one RBI each, including Ryan Goetz, Ryan Rieger, Aaron Senne, Josh Adams, James Wooster and Brent Keys.

Third baseman Drew Robinson led the Crawdads with a home run in the eighth inning that plated himself and left fielder Jeremy Williams. Designated hitter Hanser Alberto also drove in one run in the contest.

The two clubs are tied atop the Northern Division standings with identical 14-7 records after splitting the four-game series between one another, 2-2.

Jose Urena (2-1) picked up the victory on the mound for Greensboro, while Luke Jackson suffered his first loss of the season. He falls to 2-1.

Hickory starts the first of a three-game series against the Charleston RiverDogs. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
