'Dads drop rubber match to Asheville, 9-6

First baseman Harold Riggins drove in three RBIs on a 4-for-5 day to lift the visiting Asheville Tourists to a 9-6 win, taking two-of-three games against the Hickory Crawdads.

Rougned Odor led Hickory offensively, going 2-for-5 from the plate with three RBIs — two of which came on a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Asheville starting pitcher Alex Gillingham picked up his first win of the season, pitching five innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits and struck out four batters.

Hickory's Will Lamb dropped to 0-1 on the season, suffering the loss. He gave up four runs on five hits, striking out three batters.

The Crawdads host Kannapolis on Monday for the first of a three-game series in Hickory. Fans will receive free grandstand tickets as part of a "Thanks for Twenty Years....This One's On Us" promotion. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
