'Dads comeback falls short against Greensboro, 8-4
After falling behind 8-0, the Hickory Crawdads attempted to come back in their game against the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
Hickory scored four runs in the fifth, seventh and eight innings, but weren't able to make up the deficit, dropping the first road game of the series to Greensboro on Wednesday, 8-4.
Catcher Austin Barnes, left fielder Matt Smith and third baseman Joe Adams each drove in two RBIs for the Grasshoppers (17-8).
Hickory (16-9) was paced by left fielder Jeremy Williams, who went 1-for-4 from the plate with a home run and two RBIs.
Greensboro's Charlie Lowell picked up the victory, allowing one run on two hits and six 'Dads sat down on strikes.
Left-hander Will Lamb (0-2) suffered the loss for Hickory, tossing three innings and allowing five runs on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
The Crawdads and Grasshoppers play the second game of the series tomorrow in Greensboro at 7 p.m.
