'Dads Brinson named Rangers' Defender of the Month

Hickory Crawdads All-Star OF Lewis Brinson was named the Texas Rangers Minor League Defender of the Month for the month of July, becoming the 5th different Crawdad to win a monthly award in 2013.

Brinson joins Right-handed pitcher C.J. Edwards (Pitcher of the Month: April), left-handed pitcher Alexander Claudio (Reliever of the Month: May), left-handed pitcher Luis Parra (Pitcher of the Month: May & June) and infielder Ryan Rua (Player of the Month: May and June) as monthly award winners.
The 19-year-old Brinson started 24 games in center field for Hickory in the month of July. The Florida native committed just two errors in 65 total chances in the outfield, while also recording a pair of outfield assists. Brinson has totaled eight outfield assists overall, 2nd-most on the Crawdads.

He was recently voted the top defensive outfielder in the South Atlantic League in Baseball America's "Best Tools" survey. At the plate, Brinson is batting .232 (86-371) with 54 runs, 13 doubles, two triples, 19 home runs, 44 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in 101 games with Hickory.

Since returning from the disabled list on Tuesday, he has gone 4-for-10 with five runs, two home runs, five RBIs, four walks and a stolen base in three games.
