CVCC Comes Up Short

The Catawba Valley Buccaneers attempted a furious comeback, but they fell short. The Buccaneers hit several 3-pointers in the closing minutes of their game Monday at home against Spartanburg Methodist College and pulled close.

Spartanburg Methodist made 1 of 2 free throws, and the Pioneers defeated the Buccaneers 59-55 at CVCC’s Multi-Purpose Complex.

Spartanburg Methodist was 16-of-18 shooting Monday night from the free-throw line, and CVCC made only 3 of 11 attempts.

Bennie Mozingo led Spartanburg Methodist with a game-high 14 points. D.J. Brown scored 10.

CVCC also had a pair of double-digit scorers.

Zach Hayes scored a team-high 13 points for CVCC, and Ramon Herrera contributed 12.
