Crime at all-time low
Catawba County has its lowest crime index in 20 years according to information the State Bureau of Investigation released last week.
The District Attorney's Office reported the crime rate in Catawba County has been on a steady decline in recent years. District Attorney Jay Gaither said there has been a consistent decrease in the rate since 2010. Gaither said the 2010 rate was county's second-lowest, with 2011 falling to the third-lowest, and now 2012 being the lowest recorded.
