Crawdads pitcher Edwards wins honor from Rangers

Hickory Crawdads pitcher C.J. Edwards was named the Texas Rangers minor league pitcher of the month on Thursday.

The 21-year-old Edwards is 1-1 on the mound this month with a 1.93 ERA (five earned runs in 23.1 innings).

He has struck out 29 batters and allowed just seven walks, holding opposing batters to a .176 average.

Overall this season, Williams is 2-1 with a 2.51 ERA. He has recorded 31 strikeouts and nine walks.

Williams, who attended Mid-Carolina High School (S.C.), was selected in the 48th round of the 2011 MLB Player Draft.
