The Hickory Crawdads returned home in style on Wednesday before 5,468 fans — the most people to attend a single 'Dads game at L.P. Frans Stadium in the past five years.

Left-handed starting pitcher Will Lamb and right-handed reliever Nick McBride combined to toss a one-hitter, helping the Crawdads to a 3-1 Independence Day victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds.

A single by catcher Wynston Sawyer in the top of the third inning was the lone hit for the Shorebirds (3-10, 31-51).

Offensively, the trio of Drew Robinson, Jorge Alfaro and Kellin Deglan led Hickory (11-3, 47-36) with one RBI each.

Hickory and Delmarva continue a five-game series with game two Thursday at L.P. Frans Stadium. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
