Crawdads drop third-straight game to Suns
The Hickory Crawdads lost their third and final game against the Hagerstown Suns on Wednesday afternoon, falling 8-6 at L.P. Frans Stadium.
The Suns (21-15) pulled out to a 6-2 lead after three innings of play, powered by a four-run second inning that included a Steven Souza RBI single to left field.
Hickory (19-17) plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning, including a Drew Robinson RBI single and a Jeremy Wiliams fielder's choice RBI.
The Crawdads powered back with three runs in the seventh inning, including RBI singles by Chris Grayson, Hanser Alberto and Williams.
Two late runs — one each in the eighth and ninth innings — proved to be the difference makers, allowing the Suns to pick up the series sweep against the 'Dads.
Hickory starts a four-game road series with Asheville on Thursday before returning Monday for the first of back-to-back doubleheaders against the Kannapolis Intimidators.
