Crawdads Beat Intimidators

The Hickory Crawdads withstood an 1 hour 5 minute rain and lightning delay Wednesday and defeated the Kannapolis Intimidators 7-4.

Hickory and Kannapolis have two games left in the four-game series. The two teams play at 7:05 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Hickory trails first-place Lakewood by 3-1/2 games in the Northern Division standings.

Crawdads pitcher Miguel De Los Santos allowed just one run on one hit and two walks while striking out four through the first three frames, prior to the weather delay.

Matt Thompson (9-8, 4.25 ERA) followed with 3.2 innings, surrendering three runs on seven hits while fanning six, picking up the win. Joseph Ortiz dealt the final scoreless 2.1 innings with four strikeouts to record his second save of the season.
