Crash stalls Old U.S. 70 traffic

November 21, 2011

This traffic signal fell after the crash.

Traffic in both directions on Old U.S. 70 in Conover were closed near the on-ramp to Interstate 40 after a silver Toyota car slammed into a telephone pole near the ramp Monday evening.

The pole snapped in half, bringing down street lights and two sets of traffic lights at the intersection.

The woman driving the Toyota was transported to Frye Regional Medical Center for examination.
